About the 2023 Community planning conference

We are pleased to announce the annual SEQCA community conference will take place on Saturday 21 October at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, South Bank campus from 9.00 am – 4.00 pm. This year we are partnering with the Royal Society of Queensland (RSQ) to bring together speakers, panel discussions and mutual learning across two themes:

GROW: Can we do it better?

CLIMATE CHANGE AND PLANNING: Given climate change, how can Queensland’s planning systems be rendered fit for purpose?

We are excited to announce our keynote speaker will be Ms Michelle Cottrell, Director, ShapingSEQ Review Project Team. Other confirmed speakers include: Ms Amy Degenhart, (Director, Degenhartshedd Architecture and a member of the Queensland Government Expert Panel on Housing); Mr John Mongard (Director, Landscape Architects Pty Ltd); Ms Rachel Gallagher (QShelter); Dr Mark Limb (QUT) and Dr Philippa England (Griffith University).

To minimise the cost for attendance and to prevent food waste this event is BYO lunch. Morning and afternoon tea will be provided.

Last year the inaugural SEQCA conference attracted over 100 members of the public and raised $1,000 for a local charity, Orange Sky Laundry. We look forward to welcoming you to another stimulating and informative community conference this year.
